Paul stood for the Green Party in the Thaxted county division, which covers Ashdon ward, at the Essex County Council election on 7 May 2026, winning 557 votes (8.1%) and finishing fourth of six. Paul also stood in Ashdon ward at the May 2023 district council election, winning 153 votes (21.8%).
What is being elected in Ashdon
Ashdon is one of the 22 wards of Uttlesford District Council. It covers Ashdon, Hadstock, Little Walden and Sewards End and elects one district councillor (out of 39 across the district). At the next local elections on 6 May 2027, the seat in this ward is up for election, and each elector has one vote. Every town and parish council in the ward is elected on the same day.
For Essex County Council, Ashdon ward is part of the Thaxted division, which elects one county councillor. For UK Parliament, the ward is in the North West Essex constituency.
Boundary notes: Little Walden is part of Saffron Walden parish, north of the town, and votes in Ashdon district ward and the Thaxted county division. From May 2027, the part of Sewards End parish that moved into Saffron Walden parish in 2023 moves from Ashdon ward into Saffron Walden Shire ward.

In the Thaxted county division, which covers Ashdon ward, Paul Allington finished fourth of six with 8.1% of the vote, and was not elected. Bo Davis (Reform UK) was elected.
